FORD’S THEATRE 2009-2010 SEASON CONTINUES WITH "A CHRISTMAS CAROL" BY CHARLES DICKENS ADAPTED BY MICHAEL WILSON
“With this new production of A Christmas Carol, I wanted to create a world that evokes the spirit and time period of the Charles Dickens story but with a touch of fancy to celebrate the holiday season,” said director Michael Baron. “I wanted music and dancing to come to the forefront and to highlight the clear contrasting ways to lead one’s life—either with greed, isolation and selfishness or by understanding the importance of helping those in need, the love of family and compassion for others. My hope is that this production honors not only Dickens’s words but also the wonderful theatrical history of Ford’s Theatre.”
“When I arrived at Ford’s almost six years ago, I promised that we would mount a new production of A Christmas Carol every five years,” said Ford’s Theatre Society Director Paul Tetreault. “Watching Michael Baron take the reins and create this delightful, music-filled production, I’ve found myself once again looking afresh at this 150-year-old tale with eyes of wonder and joy. I’m sure you’ll find that the story still works its magic in new and exciting ways, making A Christmas Carol the perfect holiday celebration for the entire family.”
This production is made possible by Sunoco, Inc.; Lockheed Martin Corporation; AT&T Inc.; Siemens Corporation; Occidental Petroleum Corporation; and Oshkosh Corporation. Ford’s Theatre’s 2009-2010 season sponsors are The Home Depot and Chevron.
