Center for Education and Leadership Sneak Peek and Necessary Sacrifices Teacher Preview and Workshop
Tuesday, January 24, 2012, 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. workshop; 7:30 p.m. performance
This workshop for teachers will be the first held in our new Center for Education and Leadership, and will include a sneak peak of our new museum, gallery spaces and education studios. This preview will help prepare you to bring your class to the February 9th student matinee of Richard Hellesen’s Necessary Sacrifices, or simply give you the opportunity to explore the new resources Ford’s Theatre will have available to your students through a theatrical lens. The play included in this preview imagines the two known White House encounters between Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln, contrasting their leadership during a period of national crisis. A post-show discussion with the artistic team will follow the performance. Free for up to 20 teachers, including light dinner. Priority is given to teachers who have made arrangements to bring their students to see a performance. R.S.V.P. by email.
