We just saw Necessary Sacrifices and it was OUTSTANDING! A real must see! Brilliantly written and acted (by David Selby and Craig Wallace), this production gives the viewer a window into their relationship during the Civil War years. Just BRILLIANT! We are coming again towards the end of the run. -P. A. Sowers
Go see Necessary Sacrifices... celebrate Lincoln’s birthday and Black History Month. Great prodcution. David selby is spectacular. -M. Pierce
Just saw Necessary Sacrifices at Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC and the show is terrific! Craig Wallace is wonderful as Frederick Douglass and David Selby is nearly a twin to Lincoln. If you're in the DC area folks, please see this show. It runs through Feb. 18. -D.Williams
David Selby, a West Virginian, plays the definitive Lincoln. Don't miss this play! -N. Whalen
My husband and I came away from the play feeling like we had been in the presence of not two actors playing roles, but actually being in the presence of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglas. David Selby's portrayal of Abraham Lincoln is a masterpiece. He captures the essence of Lincoln's down-to-earth and homey gestures, mannerisms, and carriage. As a Mary Lincoln first person portrayer, I looked at him through new eyes, one's that made me see the errors of my previous perceptions and more like how Mary would have actually seen him. My only regret was that I could not have met Mr. Selby and told him so. Happy birthday, David, from a fellow WVU alum. -J. Peterson
Hoo-rah for Craig Wallace and David Selby. Our problems seem small compared to those they so vividly portrayed. -G.Leopold
I attended the Saturday afternoon showing and would recommend this to people who enjoy going back in time to discover the relationship between Douglass and Lincoln. -D. Gerstner
Saw the most amazing play … Necessary Sacrifices, at Ford's Theatre tonight! It recreated meetings that happened with Fredrick Douglas and Lincoln. The acting is fabulous and the one liners are so funny and even relevant in today's politics! It plays through February 18th and definitely worth seeing! -A. Pietranton
