ANNOUNCE PETERSEN HOUSE AND FORD’S THEATRE
Washington, D.C.—The National Park Service (NPS) and the Ford’s Theatre Society announce that the Petersen House (the House where President Abraham Lincoln died) will be closed to the public on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, due to facility work on the adjoining building at 514 10th Street NW. The Petersen House will reopen to the public on Thursday, November 19, 2009.
Ford’s Theatre also will be closed to the public beginning at 10:30 a.m. on November 18 for a previously scheduled rehearsal of the Ford’s Theatre Society production of A Christmas Carol.

During this closure, visitors may go to www.nps.gov/foth and www.fords.org in order to learn about and experience both Ford’s Theatre and the Petersen House.
As a reminder all visitors two years of age and older wishing to enter Ford’s Theatre and the Petersen House must present a timed entry ticket. Admission is free and includes an interpretive or educational presentation by either the National Park Service or Ford’s Theatre Society. The presentation lasts approximately 45 minutes. Following the presentation, visitors are encouraged to proceed across the street to visit the Petersen House, where an NPS or volunteer interpreter greets and provides an interpretive talk about the events that took place in the home where the president died on April 15, 1865.
