Artistically, Ford's Theatre has dedicated itself to producing works that both celebrate and explore the American experience in ways that not only entertain, but also invite reflection and contemplation.
Looking to the future, Ford's Theatre has expanded its mission to include a greater emphasis on education as it relates to President Lincoln and his impact on the history of our nation. As one of this country's most revered and chronicled leaders, Lincoln's experiences as President during troubled times continue to offer us a tremendous opportunity for learning and study.
As part of this expanded mission, Ford's Theatre is undergoing the most extensive renovation project to take place since the building reopened to the public in 1968: The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Campaign.
Ford's Theatre is also an active member of the community, both locally and nationally. By making performances and educational programs available to hundreds of thousands of visitors for free or at a substantial discount; and by offering services such as assisted listening devices, and audio described performances for those with hearing or vision impairments, Ford's Theatre works to make sure that everyone who visits is welcome and has an opportunity to enjoy and learn.
